Shooting on the Bridge

Here's a quick behind the scenes video look at the shoot from Wednesday night for the song "Believe Me" by Meek Mill and Dave Patten.

 

City Skyline

I've always wanted to grab the Philly city skyline in the background of a scene but it's surprisingly tough to find a spot with a good view, and it can be really tough to make it look good without a long lens.  I drive over the Spring Garden bridge pretty much every day and it overlooks the city, so I took a chance last night for the shoot.

Shout out to Cortney for being my girlfriend in the vid :) and Ricks of course and as always for trapsing out and filming all these storylines I'm always coming up with haha couldn't do anything without your help.

We basically pulled the car up onto the sidewalk and pulled power from the battery for this scene, it was official.

The Budget Is In!!

Ricks and I were approached to shoot a pilot for a reality TV show for the end of January 2011.  It's one of the biggest project's we've had the pleasure of working on thus far, and it's going to do a lot of great things for everyone involved when completed.  We're shooting it down in the Dominican Republic -- it's going to be amazing to be down there for a few weeks instead of up here in freezing cold Philly!!

Yesterday we received the budget money, so we can start with hiring out the necessary crew, talent and rent the appropriate equipment to make this show happen!!  It was an epic moment for the South9 Entertainment team haha.

"Believe Me" Snow Shoot

I always want to film in the snow, but it's hard to predict when it's coming and even harder to get schedules together within like 12 hours notice.

But, I was able to make it happen this time around!  With the help of my sister Michele working the camera and miss Lavin on screen it turned out awesome.  This is for my character's storyline for the "Believe Me" music video with Meek Mill.  Here are some screenshots from the shoot -- you can see the rest of the album here

Video Shoot!!!!! DP Meek Mill DJ Damage

We're shooting the performance scene for the "Believe Me" track today at the South9 Offices downtown.  This video is going to be epic I'm telling you.  I've got everyone wearing white dress shirts with black skinny ties, Ricks is going to light the place up like a pro, and DJ Damage will be backing us up on the tables along with Dante, Meek's drummer.

I have a breakfast meeting today with Coon, who is part of Meek's team.  After that I'll set up for the shoot.  Around 2pm I have another meeting with Maiden Media down at their offices to talk some PR.  At 4pm everyone is set to show up.  We're gonna banggggg out the shoot, pack everything up, and then I'm heading back to my hometown to go out with Josh West for brews and see some old high school buddies of mine, their band is playing at a local bar.

Should be a fun night before Christmas Eve!!!

"Believe Me" Music Video Treatment

So here it is, thought it up yesterday walking downtown to see my lawyer.  This is going to be a pretty epic video I'm excited:

Believe Me

Starts out with a chase scene, before the music even cuts in. Meek booking down the train tracks with a cop on his tail. The cop catches up and tackles him hard. Off in the distance the "present" meek watches, shaking his head at his foolish younger self...
Song starts!

Performance scene -- meek and Dave performing in the studio with damage DJing and Dante on drums.

Meek Story
- meek driving around in the streets at night. He's meeting with people, exchanging small packages for cash.
- at his safehouse he has a lot of girls, money. Life is good
- makes another drop/pickup with some guys outside of (Ricks') house. In the parking lot is a dark blue impala with heavy tints (DJ Damage's car). From inside we see the transaction via a super long lens (rent canon tele). Surveillance photos taken.
- gets a big shipment in. Heads back down to the train tracks.
- blue impala is in the parking lot again. Meek walks right past it.  He goes to the usual spot but the buyer (same guy as before) is acting all weird. He leaves the money but doesn't take the goods. Meek realizes he's being set up and makes a run for it. The cop is right behind him...
-chase scene!
-meek drops a ton of money on the table at his crib. "I'm out" he mouths. He walks out.
Sits in his car outside thinking to himself. He smiles, happy with his decision.
Cuts to meek in the booth recording!!

  

Dave Story
- Dave with his main girl out to eat, driving in the car laughing, etc.
- One night he sees another girl at the gas station he instantly falls for. He talks to her.
- they end up at a bar getting drinks, having an amazing time.
- cuts to them on the couch at his apartment. Candles lit, romantic atmosphere. Wine glasses, etc.
-outside, GF jumps out of a cab with a gift in her hand. She has a key and is going to surprise Dave.
She walks in on the two. Drops the package and runs back out. Davechases her out the door but she's gone when he gets out front.
- Dave sits with his guitar, staring at photos of he and his GF who is now gone. He's upset.
- GF is alone on a bridge downtown, the city lit up behind her. She is lost in thought, sad. A hand touches hers, pulls her close. It's Dave. He mouths "I'm sorry" to her. She stares into his eyes.
- a wide shot shows them kiss gently on the bridge. So cute so cute
