This blog is essentaily a documentation of everything I've done, so here goes. This is what went down this past weekend, 1/14-18:
Thursday - Jahlil, Ricks and I drove from Philly to Newark Airport, hopped on a plane to Dallas, sat around for 3 hours and hopped on another plane into LAX. That night we went to one of Master P's studios. Lil Romeo was even there haha. Meek played a ton of his new tracks, as did Jahlil. After that we ran through a bunch of videos and called it a night.
Friday - Woke up and left out for Meek's video shoot with Kid Ink. Kid Ink is DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar's artist. We all sat down for a while (the film team was having some trouble with locations or something) and got to talk about the rap game and the industry in genereal. It was cool to hear everyone's perspectives -- Meek Mill, Jahlil Beats, DJ Ill Will, DJ Rockstar, Kid Ink -- and compare it to my own. We all see things in a similar light. Labels don't do shit, you have to start your movement and keep the ball rolling with consistent and persistent good music!
After the shoot we went out to Will Smith's recording studio "The Boom Boom Room" -- the place costs I think $500/hr to rent. We got in there because we were hangin with KSmith, Will's nephew. I got to be the engineer (because we rolled in at like 11pm and stayed till around 3am haha no engineers where there).
Saturday - Meek had meetings with Master P on Saturday, so I worked on the "Believe Me" video and some of the documentary. It was a pretty relaxed day, hit up a chinese buffet and called it a night.
Sunday - Ricks and I met up with JC, one of the producer/filmmakers we met at the Landlocked Film Festival this past summer. He's out in LA making movies every few months and making awesome profit from them. I love just listening to the guy talk -- he knows so much from experience every time I meet with him I learn like 800 new things. He picked us up and gave us the tour of the main attractions in Hollywood. Afterwords Ricks and I scouted a little on our own, grabbed a few beers and took the subway back in town to our hotel.
When we got back to our hotel we got kicked out of our rooms lol because we were supposed to get an employee discount, but the employee we had referred to wasn't eligible..? So after like a two-hour fued with the indian dude running the hotels, we got the boot.
That night we went over to DJ Ill Will's studio spot -- they were recording the cypher (listen here) with Meek Mill, Kid Ink, Los and Tory Lanez. I don't have any of the footage uploaded right now, but in a few weeks I'll post some clips.
Sunday night the 8 of us crashed in one hotel room haha it was one of those nights you'll look back on and laugh about
Monday - We had to be at the airport at 5:30am. Spent the entire day flying into JFK, taking the subway to Penn Station, NJT down to Newark Airport, then driving 2 hours back down to Philly. I'm never not flying out of PHL again lol mark my words!!
